Dear John,
I could not figure out how the currency SWAP calculated in the question.
In the question:
The swap would be fore initial fee paid for the franchise, with a swap of principal immediately and in three year’s time, both these swaps being at today’s spot rate.
My calculation:
Receipt of swap arrangement=7500×0.1430=1,073
Answer: 715+2500×0.1315=1,044
Both swaps being calculated based on today’s rate, why the answer is using the 3rd’s year’s ex rate?
thank you!
Lily
It is the principal which is converted at todays spot rate.
The principal is the initial 5,000 and this has therefore been converted at 0.1430. The remaining 2,500 has to be converted at the spot in 3 years time.
