hello all
I wonder if there is anyone out there that has the same experience as myself, I passed all my exams in August this year and I all I have left to become an ACCA member is just 4 remaining PER. For some reasons my manager is pushing off the PER signing since July and now is already at end of the year, I am getting really depress that I can’t become a qualified accountant this year and I don’t think it will happen anytime soon, especially next January where we will be busy with year end and all. I have tried talking to him so many times and he keeps giving me empty promises to say he will do it next week after next week and after next week. this is since July and I am not kidding. My colleagues advised me to go and speak to the director about it and I don’t think this will resolve the issue as my manager will explain to the director that he is busy etc. Today he has even blatantly told me that he has more important things to do than looking at my PER. I am getting very frustrated and feel extremely helpless. Anyone out there has the same experience? Any advice of what can I do to qualified? I feel like just handing in my resignation letter and start looking for another job and hopefully the next employer will sign off my experience.
many thanks!

Dear yammy,
First of all do not get depressed. In every situation there is a solution and for sure resigning from your job is not one of the best option as least to me. I would advise you to communicate about your PER issues with your supervisor through mails, as it will be more official and thus any ACCA member should comply to the ethical requirements of the organisation and as well your boss being your mentor has certain responsibilities to fill as an ACCA member. This will provide you with the bases to report on him to ACCA for unethical or at least non-professional behaviour toward you. At the same time you may apply to ACCA to help you in finding a training supervisor, this is different from the workplace mentor, as training supervisor may be any ACCA member who agrees to oversee your progress in achieving PER’s and is not required to be your workplace supervisor. I used training supervisor for my PER’s as myself I’m holding finance director position and at the company there is nobody who holds ACCA so I had to use teh ACCA network in my country to find a training supervisor for me who would sign off my PER’s.
Good luck! You did the most difficult part so do not be upset for small things.December 18, 2013 at 4:38 pm #153167AnonymousInactive- Topics: 1

Dear yammy
I am in exactly same situation.Completed the exams in June and only one PER remaining. I tell is very frastrating.December 21, 2013 at 8:43 am #153310Dear Alla,
Many thanks for your advice, i never thought of that although i have thought of contacting ACCA for advice.
I will just keep trying to get to him, sometimes i feel so useless i always back down and say ok whenever he says he’s busy and will look at it next week. Funnily just after i wrote this on the forum the next day he actually really look at my PER! And also kindly put in some comments and correct any mistakes I made on the PER, so now I amended them and re-submit to him again…. and as you guessed it… He will look at it next week… I pray for that to happen!Dear Mark,
What is the last PER that you need? Is your mentor refusing to sign or do you need to have some experience for that?
January 7, 2014 at 5:09 pm #153876I thought I was the only one in such situation. Though my supervisor eventually signed all PER by the end of November and I even managed to get qualified last year.
At some point I was thinking of requesting another qualified person to sign my PER. But that would require me re-writing some objectives.
If you know someone else qualified and familiar with your work I guess there is no harm to request this person to sign the PER. - AuthorPosts
