    Hi

I lost my motivation for studying 🙁 I’am 38 years old and I think that I am to old to do something serious. I have master degree in Economics but now I would like to do ACCA but in my age is worth it?

    Thanks for any good words

Hi, I saw your post and could not just past it without saying something.

The answer to your question is : Yes, Yes, it was always worthy to better yourself.
I am not on of those who only believes in formal education but I would advise that if have already started ACCA don’t give up.

I am older than you, I am have been an accountant for over 10 years now, I have got an accounting degree and a business degree, and I am still battling to finish my ACCA.
    Don’t give up.

Well, ive joined big4 in my early 30’s…Having a lot of people working with being around 20 on similiar position.

First CBEs were like a nightmare, going back several years to all these study exams, that you thought/hoped to have all behind. That’s imo objective truth – older you are, less equipped mentally for exams you are.

It’s worth to studdy ACCA if you have anything to gain from it, else than paper. I.e. if you work in the same company for 20 years and plan to stay there, you have to pay for your exams – then I just guess it may be just additional stress for you with minimum benefit. If you’re open and ready to change/improve your work or position, and have time available to spend on studying – then go for ACCA.

Just saying that ACCA require a lot of effort and if you’re already well recognised in your field or it suits you well how it is I dont think benefits outweigh costs. But if you want to improve or change, and willing to commit, then yes.

I am also older than you and studying ACCA. I also have a Bachelors Degree. I am also struggling as ACCA is tough and am determined to finish it no matter how long it takes. Have passed a couple of exams. Continue, don’t give up, the reward will be sweet.

I’m a similar age. It’s entirely up to you if it’s worth it. It’s a big commitment. Every exam means I’m home and sacrificing time with friends and family. The house gets messier than usual and healthy eating and exercise goes out the window. It’s stressful, especially if working too.

Take it one exam at a time and don’t rush. Enjoy the process as much as you can. Personally I’ve found ACCA much easier than my degree (not related to accounting). I’ve just finished the first nine papers which is degree level apparently.

If you hate it or it’s having too much of a negative impact, reassess. It’s not just a qualification, it’s learning too. However far you get you won’t having nothing to show, even if you don’t complete.
