    Hi Tutor,

For linear programing can it be used to more than two products

this what was giving in Mar 2024 exam .There were three products

how can the contribution formula be formulated for three products,

or just we must choose the possible ones.

    Thanks,

When dealing with multiple products, we can use linear programming to find the optimal production mix while considering resource limitations.

    Hi,

    That’s okay,

But we know that we have only x an y axis for each axis only one product we can consider so where the third product will be assigned .

    Thanks,

Linear programming can be used to deal with more than two products. However, in the exam, you can only be asked situations where there are only two products.

This means that if you encounter a question with three products, one of three things must be happening:
either you are only asked to set up the equations without being asked to solve it,
or a fixed quantity of one of the products has to be made, in which case it is only the other two products that share the remaining constraints,
or you have misread the question.

The exam is designed to test your understanding of linear programming with two products, even though in real-life scenarios there could be many limiting factors and more than two products.

    Hi,

Yes you are correct ,the question was asking only the contribution equation and other constraints equations without solving for the amounts.

    Thank you very much.
