    Can you please help me how to resolve the question below?

    A company uses the linear programming model to find the optimal production plan for its two
    products X and Y. The model considers ‘x’ to be number of units of product X and ‘y’ to be the
    number of units of product Y.
    It has identified the following equations:
    Objective function = Maximise 8x + 12y
    Subject to the following constraints:
    Material 2x + y <= 2,000
    Unskilled labour: x + y <=1,500
    and x >= 400

    What is the optimal solution for the output of X and Y?

    We do not provide answers to test questions!

    If this is not a test question then you must have an answer in the same book in which you found the question – in which case you should ask about whatever it is in the answer that you are not clear about. Then I will help you.

    I do assume that you have watched my free lectures on linear programming? The lectures are a complete free course for Paper F5 and cover everything needed to be able to pass the exam well.

    I have the answer but not sure how was it worked out:

    X —-400
    Y—–1100

    Thank You

    You should be using a Revision Kit from one of the ACCA approved publishers, and if so there will be workings with the answer.

    Again, ask about whatever it is in the answer that you are not clear about.
    And, again, have you watched my free lectures on linear programming?
