Since we have option to Attempt 2 from 3, 25 mark question. i am thinking not to prepare for risk as that part of the syllabus is never examined as a 50 mark question and prepare the remaining of the syllabus.

It depends what you mean by ‘risk’. Risk is almost always examined in the 50 mark question (as CAPM).

Also, virtually every exam has a 25 mark question on either foreign exchange risk or on interest rate risk, and once you have understood them then it should be reasonably easy to get most of the 25 marks.

I would not suggest that you ignore risk management!

thanks for replying . yes i meant by foreign exchange and interest rate risk . i understand they might be relatively easy compared to rest . but surely if they are not examined as 50 mark question was thinking would be rational to devout all the time to the rest of the syllabus and make them stronger as they would be examined in a 50 mark question anyways ..

OK, but the problem is that it is almost impossible for anyone to get full marks on the 50 mark question, and obviously there is a danger of making a real mess of it and getting far less than 50 marks. It really would be sensible to spend some time understanding foreign exchange and interest rate risk. It is not guaranteed to be asked, but one of them usually is. If you can get reasonable marks on the 50 mark question and, in addition get reasonable marks on the risk question, then you are much more certain of passing 🙂
