Hello Sir,
Question :
The times taken to produce each of the first four batches of a new product were as follows:
Batch number Time taken
1 100 minutes
2 70 minutes
3 59 minutes
4 55 minutes
What was the rate of learning closest to? (1 d.p)
As per my understanding shouldnt we calculate this by first calculating the total time take and then average it out by which I am getting 83% but as per answer it is 84.3% Please help me where am I going wrong with this .
The average time per batch if the make 4 batches is (100 + 70 + 59 + 55) / 4 = 71 minutes.
Making 4 batches involves doubling twice, so the learning rate is the square root of 71/100, which is 0.843 or 84.3%.
I suggest that you watch my free lectures on learning curves.
Right after you explained this I understood where I was making mistakes, Thank you for helping..
And Sir I have always first watched your lectures and then only attempt questions
You are welcome 🙂
