The first unit takes 42 hours to produce. and additional 7 units will take 130 hours meaning average time per unit is 21.5. How to calculate the learning rate?
If they make another 7 units then they will have made 8 in total, and making 8 involves doubling 3 times.
Therefore 21.5 = 42 x r^3 where r is the learning rate.
So r^3 = 21.5/42
Therefore r = third root of (21.5/42) = 0.80 (or 80%)
This is all explained in my free lectures on learning curves.
