A company began producing a new prodcut in batches four months ago. When production commenced t he first batch took 45 hours. The actual learning rate observed were as follows.
Month ————— Total batches produced to date————— Actual learning rate
1 ————— 1 ————– 75%
2 ————— 2 ————— 75%
3 ————— 4 ————– 75%
4 ————— 8 ————— 95%
What was the average production time per batch for the first 8 batches.
A – 18.98 hours
B – 22.78 hours
C – 39.06 hours
D – 32.81 hours
kindly help me out with this question. thanks
Every time we double production, the average time falls to a percentage of the previous average time.
So average time when we produce 2 is 45 x 0.75
Average time when we produce 4 is 45 x 0.75 x 0.75
Average time when we produce 8 is 45 x 0.75 x 0.75 x 0.95
I got confused when the rate changed to 95%.
It was simply applying the rule ‘ Every time we double production, the average time falls to a percentage of the previous average time.’
Thanks a lot. 🙂
answer is A 18.98
month total batch LC
1 1

3 4 75% 101.25 25.3125
4 8 75% 151.875 18.984375
