    Hello
While going through the 14 principles of management by Henri Fayol, the kaplan study text shows ‘leadership’ as one of the principles. I searched on the internet about the principles and didn’t find leadership in it and instead found ‘discipline’ as one of the principles. Could you please advise as to which term should be included in the principles?

    Thankyou.

Discipline is better. Ideas of ‘leadership’ such as inspiring people, are really later concepts. Fayol was more ‘do as you’re told’.

    Thankyou for the clarification.

I have another question regarding situational leadership. In the Kaplan study text the explanation for situational leadership is given as “influence can only be effective by being in the right place at the right time”. Could you please explain what does this statement exactly mean?

I have always understood the term to mean that the leadership style adopted should vary depending on the situation you are confronted with. It is really another term for contingency theory.

    See here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Situational_leadership_theory

Lots of other stuff on Google also.

    Hi,
Please help me with this question from my E2 exam.
What kind of feasibility study is where a company undertakes a project to build a
building, the site is 20 miles from workers homes and they have to walk every day
from home to work and so fourth.

    ANSWER

    Is it: A. Technical, B.Social, C.Ecological or D. Financial?

I would say social: will the workers be prepared to do it or will they try to find jobs closer to where they live?

    Hi Ken,

I also had another question in my E2 exam which i found it hard to answer.
    The question is:

Third-party consultation, mediators, confrontation and super-ordinate are examples
    of which conflict method?

Sorry, no idea. A Google search hasn’t come up with anything either.
