On Open Tuition email i just got, it said June 2018 was last exam session for P1, P2 and P3 ……what does this mean ?
May 9, 2018 at 11:00 am #450848From September 2018 onwards, there will be 2 new exams, Strategic Business Reporting, which replaces P2, and Strategic Business Leader, which replaces P1 and P3.
Therefore, June will be the last sitting of these exams, and if you haven’t passed both P1 and P3 after that then you will need to take the new exam. If you have passed both you will get a ‘converted’ pass to the new exam.
May 9, 2018 at 11:20 am #450850i am lost.. i have not heard this at all
i still have to complete F6 in June, but i have been doing some studying for P1 and P3
was this studying all in vain , or are the new subjects similar ?
will you still have to pass 5 P exams ?? does that mean the two new exams and three of P4-P7 ??
May 9, 2018 at 11:31 am #450854ACCA has been emailing students multiple times about this since 2016, and it has been featured in Student Accountant magazine multiple times. You need to read all emails from ACCA and read Student Accountant as they often contain important and useful information.
Your studying is not in vain though as the knowledge from P1 and P3 is also featured in SBL, but the exam has a slightly different focus.
You will now only have to pass 4 P exams – SBL, SBR + 2 options.
Also another change from September you need to be aware of, exams will no longer have an F code or a P code but will be referred to by their name e.g. F6 will be TX and P6 will be ATX.

May 10, 2018 at 8:18 am #451000one more thing on this… what will happen to the past exam papers for P1 and P3 ? will they stay on open tuition ? are they still completely relevant ?
May 10, 2018 at 10:23 am #451019Past papers are hosted by ACCA, not OpenTuition, but I imagine the P1 study materials will be removed from both ACCA and OpenTuition at some point as they won’t really be relevant in the context of the new exam.
ACCA has already published 2 specimen exams for SBL and Open Tuition has notes and lectures for it already.
If I look at the OpenTuition notes it seems the content is more P3 based than P1 based – this may be because there is also a new Ethics and Professional Skills e-learning module which you have to pass which is covering some of the ethics content which was previously in P1.
