At the start of the year a company had 3200 workers employed during the 1720 workers left the company at the end of the year there were 2000 workers employed. What is the labour turnover?
November 26, 2014 at 2:31 pm #213449At the start of the year a company had 2000 workers employed during the 400 workers left the company at the end of the year there were 2200 workers employed. what was the labour Turnover?
Now I inderstand the there was a 9% increase in workers (2000/2200).
What i can’t get is the 10%…….maybe i am over thinking it……please assist.
November 26, 2014 at 4:26 pm #213490First question:
The average number of workers is (3200 + 2000)/2 = 2600
Since the number fell by 1200, it means that 520 of the leavers were replaced.
So the labour turnover is 520 / 2600 = 20%
November 26, 2014 at 4:28 pm #213491Second question:
Average number of workers is (2000+2200)/2 = 2100
Since number of workers increased, all of the 400 leavers were replaced.
So labour turnover = 400 / 2100 = 19.05%
(I have no idea what 10% you are talking about. Are you sure you are not looking at a different ratio?!)

January 26, 2021 at 4:18 am #608033Sir, I think labour turnover rate formula is number of employee leaving divided by average number of employee, so above question 1720/2600.
April 1, 2021 at 2:52 pm #615682No, it will be 1720/2600 bcs the formula is number of employee replaced by average number of employee.
April 2, 2021 at 8:37 am #615733It is not 1720/2600!!
It is 520/2600 for the reason I explained in my earlier post.
August 9, 2021 at 3:22 am #630858I was confused about the 520 at the start.
First question:
The average number of workers is (3200 + 2000)/2 = 2600
3200-2000 =1200 (workers lost)
1720-1200 = 520or
3200 – 1720 = 1480
2000-1480 = 520So the labour turnover is 520 / 2600 = 20%
I’m not explaining it well but I understand sorry!
