Hi, a questions says a job will take total 210 hours labour hours to work . However 20% of total labour hours worked is always idle time.
In order to find the total labour hours , they have done as follows :
80% = 210 hours
20% = 52.5 hours : Idle time
Why didnt 210 * 20% = 42 hours not taken as idle time ?
I think that the question probably actually said that 20% of labour hours paid is always idle time.
Therefore for every 100 hours paid, 20 will be idle and 80 will be worked.
Or……..for every 80 hours worked, 20 hours will be idle.
so for 210 hours worked, 20/80 x 210 = 52.5 hours will be idle.
