a firm of accountants charges its clients at an hourly rate. Senior staff charged at twice the rate of junior stuff in a period the total amount to be charged to clients was $102,340 and the chargeable stuff hours were :
Senior stuff : 440 hours
Junior stuff 1260 hours
What is the hourly rate to be charged to clients for senior stuff time ?
1- 96$
2- 120$
3-48$
4-60$
The approach i can think to deal with this is algebraic one. So lets go Algebra on it
So first suppose
x= senior
y= junior
we are given that x is paid twice to that of y so that mean X=2Y
Also we know no. of hours for each so writing that in equation form we have
440x+1260y=102340
Now put value of x from first equation into second we have
440(2y)=1260y=102340
y=47.82
To get X simply put value of x in any equation, i will do in first one to get y=96 after rounding
You meant X=96?
Thank you very much
Yeah sorry mate thats right x=96
