    Hi guys,

I have cleared my first 12 ACCA papers all in first attempt, and used to appear for 3 papers in each sitting.
I was a full time Kaplan Financial student in London, UK.

However, due to some reasons, for the final 2 papers (ACCA P4 and P5), I opted for distance learning and now I am preparing for ACCA P4 and P5 through online lectures of Kaplan Financial and I have got the physical material (Complete Text and Revision Kit) of Kaplan as well as BPP.

I wanted to know if it would be really worth spending about £800 for Live Online Revision Lectures of Kaplan Financial (£400 for each of P4 and P5).

Kaplan also charges somewhere around £130 for QBD (Question Based Day) that constitutes of just one lecture of a couple of hours I guess, I didn’t really found it worth as I was planning to take the whole revision course, which includes well enough question practice.

Although I am preparing by myself and not finding it something completely impossible to do, but I have been scared by lots of people about the level of difficulty of these papers and extremely low pass rates. So, I am just a bit concerned.

Please let me know asap, need to make a decision soon, I reckon the revision lectures are beginning from 29 Oct 2012 for P5 and somewhere in first week of Nov for P4. Just to make clear, I intend to give both exams in Dec. 2012

    Hi DLS,

Kaplan and BPP ones really charge a lot from us mainly because of their ‘brand name’. If you had been a full time student with Kaplan till clearing 12 papers, you must have spent a lot towards tuition fees. I recommend to try with INSAF live online who is an awesome tuition provider I’ve ever come across. I’ve been to Kaplan as well as to iCount (Manchester) centres but wasn’t much impressed. Finally one of my colleagues recommended me INSAF live online to continue my studies. Now guess what – 7 of my colleagues follow courses with INSAF, of which one failed the F5 paper 4 times before with Kaplan and got through F5 finally in the last exam diet with INSAF. They offer a one-to-one live online tuition (Kaplan & BPP are ‘online classrooms’ for a group of students), Use a real-time simulating white-board to explain concepts which is simply nice, offer lessons at the time we feel comfortable at, have an extremely best tutor panel & customer service line and more importantly affordable prices – £14 per hour. For £400, about 28 hours of one-to-one lessons can be had with INSAF’s live online whereas Kaplan’s live online revision is offered for just 10 hours and charge £400 🙁 – even no one to one lessons !

I’d also say, Acorn PT as well as FirstIntuition are also good tuition providers and offer quality lessons at affordable prices (I haven’t got direct learning experience with Acorn and FI though). I don’t know about Kaplan’s overseas centres, but I’d say to all the UK based ACCA students to avoid Kaplan (and BPP) tuition at any cost. They charge a fortune merely for their brand 🙁
