    Hi

There was a question in March/June 2018 that “Identify what a key audit matter (KAM) is and explain how the auditor determines and communicates KAM.”(5 marks)

In examiners answer ,marking scheme was as follows:

    Key audit matters
    – Definition of KAM 1
    – Purpose of KAM 1
    – Significant matters and areas of judgement 1
    – Examples of KAM 2
    – KAM disclosure 1
    Restricted to 5

I just want to ask that if I write all the above points excluding KAM disclosure which is for 1 mark, so would I be able to get full 5 marks or not?

This has came in my mind just because if we read the requirement of question it says how the auditor determines and COMMUNICATES KAM.

So if I do not write about KAM disclosure , but write all other points mentioned in marking scheme then still the sum of those points makes 5 marks (i.e 1+1+1+2), HOWEVER is it such that by NOT writing on KAM disclosure I am omitting the requirement of question? Please clear this confusion

You do not know the marking scheme when you attempt a question. Always write the best answer you can in the circumstances.

I have no more say on this.
