This will be my second sitting at P6, I feel like I don’t know how to approach the questions.

When I look at the answers I say it is straightforward but when I attempt it on my own I mess it up, there are far too many little areas to think about.

Can anyone recommend a revision structure? My only saving grace is that although I had a disastrous paper in December I still somehow managed to get 42.

This is my first sitting of P6, and I feel the same to be honest.

I seem to be struggling with time, and the fact that missing or ignoring or not having the knowledge on the smallest bit can throw a whole question off.

I’m personally trying to allocate more time to reading so that I get a decent grasp of the situation and then steaming through as much as I can writting wise. I’m keeping sentences super short (but I’m worried that I may forgo marks) although the examiner did say keep it short.

BTW is it just me or are the Pilot Paper questions much harder than others?

Jaypatel-totally agree mate, the examiner and all the advice is think before you write but with such limited time available it is hard, like you said the little details can put the whole answer in jeopardy. However I also think that by missing the little details you are dropping only few marks and will still get marks throughout.

What totally messed me up in December was the style of questions, they were unusual to those covered in the revision kits so I was stuck on few points.

I know what you mean about the pilot paper questions, they are very lengthy, I tried to break down areas like today I was looking at Pilar Moreno and other individual tax questions but with Audit next Monday I am worried about Tax although I have covered nearly every question in the exam kit. The trouble is I am always doing the question with looking at the answer.

    Pilar was a tough question.

The approach I’ve now adopted is to allocate 0.4 minutes per mark to reading and planning, and the remaining 1.4 to writing.

Generally the things I write towards the end of the question don’t score many marks so figured I’m better off investing that time in making sure I understand the requirements.

The only other thing I have picked up (from the BPP QBD day) is the importance of breaking a question down into its individual components.
Say a 10 mark question may have 5 requirements. A rough guess would suggest just a few minutes on each.

I am very worried about this exam but my tutor has always said its good exam technique that will pull you through.

I hope Audit goes well for you

    Hi Jay,

Would you be able to tell what questions you practiced from BPP exam kit on your revision or QBD?

I only attended BPP tution so want to know what questions to focus on as finding really hard this paper.
