August 5, 2018 at 12:17 pm #466274My answer:
Aims:
1. To achieve sustainable growth
The increase in the number of students applying to be IOA member has increased by 2.56%. This is somewhat marginal in comparison to the growth in Archi which is 33% from 31/8/06 to 31/8/07. The number of members also had a minor rise of 1.27% over the year. The growth was disappointing in relation to the growth achieved by Archi.
Perhaps the reason being the longer years taken by student to qualify and the fact that it offers only a single sitting annually, maybe discouraging to students who may have failed and exam, having to wait another year to repeat/resit.
Meanwhile, Archi offers two sitting annually and take a year less to qualify. Student may see this as being a faster and better option to get accredited. Along with archi being the largest professional body offering accreditations and IOA second, more students may gravitates towards the former because of the sheer “prestige”.
As evidenced by the operating surplus of IOA over the year, which only arose to 3.85% compared to the surge in growth of 25% achieved by Archi.
Due to poor performance in this respect, IOA has failed to accomplish its aim of sustainable growth.
August 5, 2018 at 12:28 pm #4662762. To be a leader in design and innovation.
40% of employers interview said that IOA is a brand aligned with quality and innovation. As attested, its members have been shortlisted for the annual international design award for 3 years in a row and last year, 5 of its members had accomplished to receive a gold star for innovation by the industry experts for their designed buildings. This track record of producing top members has garnered IOA a reputation as a respectable leader in fostering innovators and developing creative talents.
Also the number of students awarded gold standard for innovation grew by 25% over the year which is impressive performance as its competitor Archi has seen no growth. This further strengthens IOA position in innovation capital and with this regards, IOA has manage to attain its aim to be a leader in design and innovation.
August 5, 2018 at 12:51 pm #4662783. To deliver a flexible and efficient service to students training to qualify as IOA accredited architects.
The time taken to issue results after date of exam is 3 months as compared to Archi which provides only 6 weeks. This is rather inefficient considering that it only has one exam annually.
Despite that, number of exam centers worldwide is larger than is being offered by Archi. Having 16 worldwide exam should help with greater students outreach and improved convenience whereby students can choose their preferred location of exam center.
Also, IOA offers 2 exclusive international variants which are not provided by Archi. This availability gives the flexibility and opportunity to students wishing to take on work on a globally broader region once qualified.
It was noted that the student satisfaction has risen by 5.7% which is slightly higher than Archi of only 2.3%. Perhaps this is due to the quality of accreditation that IOA offers which students find appealing. It can be argued that the longer time taken to issue a result was in fact attributed to the time spent for a thorough marking, being one of the aspect in delivering quality credentials.
In this respect of successful performance, IOA has achieved its aim to deliver a flexible and efficient service to students training.
August 5, 2018 at 1:06 pm #4662794. To promote the highest ethical and professional standard.
Also IOA requires members to files in online return as proof of completion and it does random checks & sent out reminders if found unfilled. However, the number of members completing CPD returns tapered by 2.17% over the year. Perhaps, IOA has not been much stringent with their investigation and control..
As evidenced last year where a member was caught in a dispute because he failed to complete his CPD for two consecutive years. IOA only took notice of this incident only after it was published in the press and later reminded to complete his CPD going forward. This feedback is somewhat not punctilious enough. Consequently it could damage the reputation upheld by IOA if members are to disregard CPD and if no adequate awareness was raised on the importance to update member’s knowledge and expertise so as to provide the best service to clients.
As such, IOA has not been successful in achieving its aim to promote the highest ethical and professional standards.
August 5, 2018 at 1:16 pm #4662805. To support members throughout their careers.
IOA offers a special service, none provided by its competitor which is continuing professional development (CPD). By completing the CPD hours when they attend such CPD, IOA members are ensured that they are well informed of the current industry regulations. The range of CPD events offered by IOA thus promotes a culture of continuous life long learning.
B this way, IOA has achieved its aim to support members throughout their career.
August 5, 2018 at 5:02 pm #466309I am sorry, but it is simply not possible for us to provide any kind of personal marking service.
You are correct in saying the it is good to have someone read and comment on your answers, but you should contact one of the tuition providers in your country and I am sure that they will offer this service.
(I don’t know where you have found this question – it is not one that the ACCA have published from the June 2017 exam, and the only past exam questions available to anybody are those that the ACCA themselves have published (and the ACCA provides answers on their website to those questions, along with guides as to how the marks were given).
