Q2 was a complete disaster! I am aiming at 5 marks for that. Other than that, it was okay. I felt like all the hard topics were unfortunately skipped, which I knew oh too well.

It was real disaster, it seems that all non core topics were examined. I was hoping for Options pricing question but not in a form in which it came up also for hedging question but it did come up.

    I feel I failed it with a safe margin…. Roll on December….

For Q2 topic there is only article and question in exam KIT from Mock 3, which is 2009 December exam. Nothing more!!!!! Text book covers this in 2 different chapters separately…
There was nothing i really was ready for:(

Before the exam I was feeling quite confident that I was fully prepared for it. Unfortunately when I looked at the question paper I felt like I had been given the wrong paper or had studied for the wrong exam!

Apart from Q1 there was nothing that I was expecting. Feeling very disapointed.

I felt Q4 and Q5 were ok, but if I pick up 10 marks combined from Q1 and Q2 I am happy. Dissappointed none of the hedging techniques came up, spent so much time on it….. 🙁

I applied correct approach to Q2, however, I screwed up calculations and received unexpected output. Anyway, I was expecting question on hedging with currency futures/options.

P4 has never been easy, but I feel that this exam wasn’t as difficult as past papers that I practised. Question 1 was sraight NPV calculation and sensitivity. Second about Black and Scholes model a bit more difficult, but it was easily predictable, since there was an article in SA and post in Bob Ryan’s blog about it. Discursive question 4 seemed a bit strange, with so little information provided for analysis. I hope to pass, but not at all sure. If not, I already spotted a few books that I might read to do better next time:)

This was the toughest paper i have seen in ACCA no doubt about it and ACCA is being so unprofessional i mean the examiners. In one sitting they give you such easy questions and then they give u nightmares and i mean this time it was 5 out of 5 none of the question was easy specially question 2 ,3 & 4 . I have never seen black scholes in company valuation before and the terms in question 3 i cant even pronounce it never heard of it before. conclusion too harsh

I request all of you to please give feedback for this exam on ACCA so that they know this examiner has been too harsh this time. https://accastudent.newsweaver.co.uk/1eh1vqewday-18el93vg7f

I think the questions were fair. ACCA brands its qualification to be of the same standard as a masters programme. Hence it wouldn’t be right and fair if students can pass just by scanning through the text kit and attempting a few questions, hoping that questions of similar sort will reappear.

Bob Ryan, the examiner, sets tough papers to uphold standards. Read his blog post and comments to understand why he’s doing this.
