That probabilities bit of question 1 was rediculous! I think there was enough marks elsewhere in the question to pass it though. 2nd time out for me – hope I passed!

    I also got 20% and 18% on question 1, and a high NPV around $2000 ( i can’t remember exactly!) for q2
i left out the interest and the sunk fixed costs in q3 and used the nominal WACC – real rate x inflation rate rather than the 10%
I can’t remember what I ended up with on q4 for the DVM it seems at bit of a blur now!!

    @louibee

No the gearing would be debt/equity. The yardstick figures that were given clearly said that it was based on a debt/equity basis so therefore you need to compare apples to apples.

I also used the fisher effect to get the nominal discount rate. I think I messed up on the Tax allowances though (I always forget about the salvage value)

I think you deduct the scrap value from the balancing allowance in the final year before x by 30% to get the tax saving

I got a really high NPV too, but I expected this considering we were taking out 200pa. I thought this was about right given the amount of mistakes that Trainee made. It actually made me feel good about NPV for once!!

In terms of the probability I just X each amount by the % and used the combined total as my CF. I hope this was right. It is just a simulation so is just for guidance. Fingers crossed!! A lot of theory but not a bad paper. Only got about 82% of it done, but we shall see!!

Div yield = DPS / Mkt price of share

Any yield calculation is always over market price.

Thats all i did for the probabilities i x each one by the % added them together and used this as my inflow with a starting balance of 500 odrawn.

In terms of NPV i got rather high but not to high i think it was about $1.9 mill npv which i was worried about but it seems like allot of people got the same! Its a shame they dont mark on average like they used to on AAT because by the sound of it everyone has struggled!

I missed out a part of a question also because time wise its just a joke i dont know anyone who has ever finished it with time to spare!
Im really worried but there is nothing we can do now! Just enjoy summer and wait for august

q1 and 4 were unusual hadn’t seen like them before I’v been practicing for the last month I don’t think it’s fair to have two ambiguous questions on the same paper

1st of all….the question didn’t ask for the expected cash flow at the end of each period but the ending balance, therefore the (500) had to be the opening balance for period 1 and the EV of cash flows at the end of period 1 had to be brought to period 2. can’t remember exactly what closing bal was for period 1 but was something like 2100 positive.

I think we got the same answer

    how???

By multiplying the percentages of the situations
    1) which give negative balance (10%+30%+60% for period 1)*(20% for period 2) for (iii) and
    2) which give balance < - 2 m (30%+60% for period 1)*20% (for period 2) for (iv)

Strange paper… nothing about working capital apart from some theory, no Forex, no interest rate risk. I hope I have passed becasuse I studied theory very well so hope to get at least 50. Good luck to everyone and thanks to OT and you all during these months!
