I thought F6 was supposed to be majorly computational!!! If not that written questions are my strength, I would have been sobbing in the exam hall, even property income that I knew very well was tough.

I understand student frustration about the exam however I still dont understand the point about VAT it was 10 marks only, no different to other papers. The examiner always tests VAT for about 10 marks. Why are you taking a punt on VAT? My students are always told they must learn all VAT as it will be tested. The adjustment to profit and capital allowances had nothing to do with VAT.
The VAT element was tax point. A Vat return showing output VAT on slaes and INPUT VAT on purchases and the Flat rate scheme. Why is this a joke, it is standard VAT question.
I really think the previous point by vinx98 is concerning. The paper was a slightly different format but standard syllabus areas. If you have worked hard and a praticised exam questions you should pass. Stop worrying and accept exams are difficult and you have to be prepared that an exam will not be a replica of previous exam papers. You will certainly find this at the Professional level.
As I said put it behind you and dont write off success because you were challenged.you are correct…its over now.. though i was really down after this paper…but but…anyway if i stumble, it will be a good challange for me to rise up for december sitting….

June 20, 2010 at 9:49 am #62467I did not find paper that difficult.
It needed little bit of thinking.
I pray to pass.

My god, I’m sure the examiner was in a very foul mood when he set the paper. It was so so so hard. He really should think from a student’s point of view rather than from a professional’s view when setting paper. I’m hoping for exactly 50% ( fingers crossed ). So, doing P6 ( Advanced Tax ) in the Professional Module is completely out of the question.

To be honest and frank the paper was really tough in that the format was completely altered and much emphasis was placed on theory + VAT allthrough the main questions especially q1.I did quite a lot of preparations such as attempting past papers but the type of questions drawn this diet seem to be unique hence the paper is adjudged to be difficult. Hoping to at least score the 50% passmark.

At best it was malicious intended to make ACCA live up to its billing ‘very hard’. A few who were repeating the paper have given up on the course altogether.
July 1, 2010 at 6:40 pm #62476They don’t have the ‘Rocky Balboa’ spirit in them. Don’t let it get you down! It was a shocker, they caught us off guard.. It won’t happen again.

the paper was not as expected. we revised questions from the kit and got familiar to different approaches but to our sirprise the examiner had a different thought. thus the exam turned out to be extremely hard since it needed think first before you could start the question and in 3 hrs…….F6 was TOO HARD

The paper was packed with most Topics and the examiner really made sure very little breathing space was left in terms of time.

August 13, 2010 at 11:48 am #62484Well I’ve looked through the answers and I still think I’ve done enough. Although saying so last time seemed to get me a lot of -p’s!
