I always dreamed of the day i could make one of these, just the day I would be done with ACCA exams. I couldn’t be happier having ending the journey of p4 and 5 with high 60s. Finally an affiliate.
For those that may not have passed, my advice is what you have probably heard before, but I can’t stress just how important i think it has played for me in passing all ACCA exams in about 2 years.
Its absolutely key, especially for all P papers, to ALWAYS consider the surrounding surrounding, just not spout random definitions and text book adv/disadv, the examiner doesn’t want that (my fellow p5 students know this very well)
Another change in my strategy was how i actually approached the exam, I personally feel that constantly writing out answers to past papers is a waste of precious time when what you should indeed be harnessing is your skill of interpretation and analysis, not your handwriting.
Then being able to take that information and apply it into SHORT to the point coherent paragraphs. Ask yourself, would you rather read 10 lines of text or 3 smaller paragraphs? Ithink focusing on this aspect not ony helps the marker mark your script but also prevents you from overrunning on a particular issues which just furthers the already time pressured exam.
Lastly, while i said that i thought doing full exam questions in full were a waste of time, I don’t think attempting the questions themselves are. Meaning i think its quite beneficial to instead just jot down relevant points ( you know yourself, you know how you would otherwise expand on those in the exam itself)
As cliched as this probably is up to this point, practising past papers is really key. However, most of us do have time constraints and can’t possibly attempt all questions ever created. My strategy was to focus on those most recent, say the last 6 years which are available on ACCA’s website, and even then, you need to work smart, and not simply hard.
For instance, if you have done cost of capital calculations 100s of times in p4, consider this, do you really think doing it one more time would add enough value to your preparation? Its so easy for us as students to focus on the areas which we like, which simply gives us a false sense of security. Although im not saying you should neglect those areas in which you are confident, but just be prudent with your limited time.
That’s it folks. I wish you all the best on your ACCA journeys.

Thank you for the advice. I’ve ten more exams to go (ouch!) until I can say the same.

Don’t worry mate, you’ll be done in no time. I remember thinking the exact same things when i was at where are you presumably (f4). Although back then i thought acca was a breeze until i met f5 hahaha.
Just stick to it constantly and you’ll be fine.
