I have just received by courier a big surprise! I bought F6 book from Kaplan and it is the biggest book I have ever had in my hand to be studied. 900 pages… And I’m sitting on 3rd June 2014.

Wish me good luck. How long could it take me? I can’t study full time as I work full-time and maybe I could study 1h during the working days, but nothing is impossible.

My Plan B is OpenTuition notes annd videos. It helped me for my first ACCA papers. But I’d like not to initiate two publishers for the preparation as I have no much time.

Glad its not just me that thought the Kaplan was ridiculously huge – I was planning on sitting this exam in June – but the way things are going it will be December at this rate :/
Strange how the BPP text is half the size – I have been advised that the Kaplan book is a lot bigger due to lots of examples?

Kaplan do use a larger font, spacing and have a lot more clearly set out examples so you understand it a lot quicker.
I can’t speak for the other papers but I did buy the Kaplan book for F6 and found that it explained it a lot easier than BPP.
I am not saying that Kaplan is better than BPP or vice versa but with regards to Taxation, I think you will realise that you made a good choice buying Kaplan!
For F6, I’d suggest using Kaplan for study, and BPP for revision. I don’t know how Kaplan are on the revision kit but BPP’s revision kit sets it up a lot like exam questions.

I gave F6 Paper in June 2013 and failed, but I passed in 2nd Attempt in December 2013, The Reason I got Failed Earlier and Passed Later was:

    1) I Used BPP Text Book and BPP Exam Kit in (June 2013)
    2) I had not practiced Enough questions or you can say that I had not practiced it according to the way it should be practiced (June 2013)

I Passed in December 2013 as I had then solely used Kaplan Exam kit and Open Tuition notes as study text and never looked upon BPP. To be very honest BPP is a good Publisher but the wordings and examples they use in study text and even exam kit is a lot trickier, but for F6 BPP is the Worst I found and Kaplan is the best (I cannot say about kaplan study text as I had not studied from it) but kaplan Exam kit is Quite Interesting, in each and every answer on exam kit they explain that how they arrived to that answer in such an easy way that you gotta love it and then found the content Quite Easy, My advice is that either you study from kaplan study text or not but OT Notes + Kaplan Exam kit is the best Combination to help you pass the exam quite easily, NEVER EVER PASS ON KAPLAN EXAM KIT, I found it to be Crucially Important preparing for F6

You Welcome @iamnoaman For F4 I Used BPP Study Text Book and BPP Exam Kit, Even Kaplan Exam kit is also Ok for F4 but BPP has more Questions to Practice.

F4 is a Paper which is Hard to Master but easy to pass, what I mean is that it is very logical and you don’t need to just learn definations or concepts but fully understand it by cases and Once you learned and understood them then it will not be a pain for you. cases are crucial part of F4 and you need to remember it because you have to write them in exam, I know most of the people (Around 90%) find Cases very hard to learn but to be honest the best approach to pass F4 is BPP Study Book + OT Notes + OT lectures of Sir Mike.He explain cases in such a way that it will be impossible to forget. I did English Variant (UK) and I passed it in first attempt at December 2012 and to be honest I could had failed that paper If I had not watched OT lectures of Sir Mike, He is Truly Exceptional 🙂

Download OT Course Notes of Sir Mike and also F4 exam Technique Article by him in which you can understand how to tackle exam question and answers and do watch his lectures along with OT Course notes, you will be just like singing along a song with him, and after that Read your BPP Text, yeah its long but BPP I found is best for F4 as it requires good english writing and Law understanding skills to pass and also do Practice questions as well. Remember F4 is not an easy paper to learn fast you need at least 1.5 months to Grasp whole syllabus because it is long so if you are a full time student you can easlily give it required time and if not then better gave it in December attempt.
