Hi
I am looking for a little advice please. I have just 3 papers remaining, P3, P6 & P7 (my chosen options).
I haven’t sat 2 ‘P’ papers together before & was wondering if this would be too much work to take on. I have a full time job (40 hours per week) and I’m married & so have a home & a husband which need love & attention. I’m concerned that taking 2 papers at this level would take away time from my other non-ACCA responsibilities. I self-teach at home & have until 2017 (I think) to complete. I would prefer, however, not to leave exams to the last minute as I’ve worked so hard to get to this point & wouldn’t want to lose out.
Any advice gratefully received, thank you!

August 12, 2013 at 6:57 pm #137782One at a time is less stressful, but two in any one session is doable. Why not set your sights on P3 and P7 for December and see how it goes? For the marginal cost on one exam entry fee, you can always opt out of one of the two you have entered if you are finding that it’s too much
August 12, 2013 at 7:12 pm #137788Thank you so much for your advice Mike. How does the opting out work? Also would I be able to opt out of P3, for example, & still sit an option paper?
August 12, 2013 at 7:16 pm #137789make sure you don’t let either paper interfere with the other to the extent that you fail both. Make sure you can pass at least one
August 13, 2013 at 1:39 pm #137856I was in a very similar situation, but I had a lot of support from my wife.
You need to analyse each paper and get a feel of how well you could do in each of them.
For example, I had P2, P7 and P6 left.
In the past, I’ve done well in F8 and F7, so therefore sat P2 & P7 together and passed.
And sat now P6 and became an affiliate.
If you are business minded and excelled in written papers, than P3 shouldn’t present a problem.
P6 is a very demanding paper and the syllabus is huge.
P7 I felt it was a continuation of F8, but looks in more detail into the accounting standards.
Whichever papers you decide to go, I wish you all the best.

August 13, 2013 at 7:28 pm #137931I have decided to give P3,P4,P5 in Dec session, being my last lot in ACCA studies. Currently I am not employed full time. However if I get good opportunities I would join while the decision to give above exams would be retained.
I am 46 years old with 25 years of experience in the field of finance, accounting and business and my last job was VP finance. I gave so far a maximum of 2 exams in one session and could clear exams most of the time.
I have already started my preparation and have a time table set for each paper, which also have targets for eg, which month my studies would complete and when I would be able to start revision and when I can conduct minimum 2 mock exams for each paper etc,
My cirmcumstances are not quite conducive for comfort study. we have two small busniess units which my wife operates with advice from me and ofcourse the finance and accounts being monitored by me , while I work in a senior managment position and passed exams till P2. I have 2 kids at home one just 15 months old and other 72 years !!! lol (FIL)lI haven’t so far attended any tuition class and I found Kaplan study materials I am comfortable with. However I never bought other than study texts. For more reference and practice I depend on open tuition.
I think it is quite possible for you go for 2 P level exams with a bit of adjustments to your daily routines.
And lastly who does not want love and attention!!! certainly not ACCA but, they only want our commitment, hardwork, effort that should reflect on our answer sheets in order to support us to award us with the membership.I wish you all the best..
