Hello, I am thinking about studying it by myself? Is it a safe bet?
Also, which variant should I choose? Is it a good choice to take the English Variant? Will it help me to gain an edge in getting a job in Commonwealth nations like Canada, Australia, New Zealand and so on , or even countries like Singapore, for that matter?
Thank you in advance.
May 29, 2019 at 6:48 am #517746The only real consideration that you should take into account when deciding which variant to opt for is whether, at any time in the future, you think that you may wish to settle in England and practice as an accountant there
If that lies within your planned future, then English variant is the choice for you
Much of the law in the Commonwealth countries is founded upon the cornerstone of English law so choosing the English variant will, most probably, not harm your chances of finding employment in those countries
But, equally, international trade disputes are a matter for current affairs and the international law of dispute resolution and cross border trade is quite extensively introduced within the Global variant
The one major factor in your thinking is where you see that your future lies
I’m not sure that that has been of much help but the final decision is clearly one for you!

Mike gave a good summary of which variant you should take, but you asked if it would give you an edge to get certain jobs. To be frank, most employers are not going to ask or care which variant of your law exam you took. They will only care how many exams you have passed, and whether you passed them first time. By all means take the most appropriate variant for your future plans, but don’t expect this to help you get a job. However, it might help you once you are actually working though, to have knowledge appropriate to the country you are working in.
