Hello there! I’m an ACCA affiliate with 5 years of experience in a niche tax role (Property tax). I’m genuinely concerned about whether my work experience meets the PER criteria as I do not plan on moving away from this niche.

For example, an element in Tax Computation and Assessments is to “Prepare or contribute to computations or assessments of indirect tax liabilities.”. Now this isn’t relevant at all in property tax but I do meet all the other elements. Similarly, an element in Tax compliance and verification is to “Determine the incidence (timing) of tax liabilities and their impact on cash flow/financing requirements.” Again, we not concern ourselves with the impact of property tax liabilities on the client’s cash flow needs.

I understand that ACCA’s new PER rules do not have the need to claim each element individually but I was still worried if this would be valid experience. Really, moving forward my role is going to evolve into management and leadership and I do not plan on moving away from this niche.

I’d really appreciate your thoughts/possible solutions here please.

    Thank you!

I recommend you sit down with your PER supervisor … https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/student/practical-experience-per/practical-experience-supervisor.html … one of their roles is to support you in achieving the objectives.

Thank you, Kim I appreciate it but unfortunately, my supervisor is not a qualified member per IFAC and can only sign off on my time. My work will be signed off by a principal at work upon confirmation by my supervisor. I was only confused about whether meeting majority (4/5) elements would also count towards successful completion of PER.

There should still be someone guiding you. I am a mere tutor and know only what is published on ACCA’s website. If you’re query isn’t answered in the FAQs https://www.accaglobal.com/gb/en/help/student-faqs-practical-experience-requirements.html you can contact ACCA directly
