Hi,
I am currently looking into studying AAT, however not so I can work in accounting but in order for me to get higher up in business. I currently work in logistics and i notice that many senior jobs ask for basic finance knowledge e.g. budgeting, costings, balance sheets etc. I know that this comes with the experience of doing a job but what i would like to know is will the AAT qualification look good on CV, that makes it stand out and would be an asset for my future managers?
My family also run a small logistics business that they would like me to go and work for. Again, will AAT help in the every day running of a SME?
Thank you
October 6, 2014 at 5:16 pm #203656Have you thought about doing a general management course? You will then be able to get a general flavour of the different aspects of business management such as finance and accounting, human resource management, strategic decision making and marketing. You could then gain a qualification that would help your CV as well exposing you to lots of different areas of business management. You might then be able to decide whether accounting is something you wish to pursue further or if you wish to specialise in another area of business management. This knowledge together with your practical experience of logistics and willingness to learn about other business areas should put you in a powerful position in terms of your future career.

Thanks for your help. Yes I have looked at these courses but alot seem to be over a few weeks during the week, one of the benefits of AAT i thought is the home learning option.I was looking into doing a distance learning masters but the cost has put me off. I will look further at general management courses and AAT i try to decide which is best for the future
Thank you
