    Mike,

I have looked at a number of examples of interpretation questions now and a theme is evident in most, if not all.

The marking scheme allows around 10 marks for comments and 5 marks for supposing ratios.

The problem is that in most, 8, 9 or even 10 ratios have been calculated, the question therefore is should we presume a ratio calculation is only worth half mark or is this wrong to assume and that 1 mark is given up to a maximum of 5??

    Thanks,

You’ll normally find that the ratio calculation marks are given to you but, if not specified, I tend to suggest that there will be no more than 6 marks for the calculations and the remainder for the chat about the ratios

Work on that basis and work on the principle that there will be one mark for each CORRECT PAIR of ratios

    OK

So by each correct pair you mean this yr and last yr or this co. and another co.

    Yes that makes sense, thanks.

“So by each correct pair you mean this yr and last yr or this co. and another co”

Whichever is appropriate – but it takes two in order that you can sensibly begin to interpret

    Good luck tomorrow
