Sir had a very general doubt. Standing today, say 1 April, how many months ahead of futures can i really buy? June futures, september and december, all 3 of them can be bought on 1 april? Also is there really a limit, as to the no.of months ahead of futures can i really buy? as in 12months, 24 months anything?
Am struggling to explain my doubt, but see if you could understand what am saying…
Many thanks!
There are always several futures available on any day (depending on when they will expire). Usually they are available for the following four quarter days (end March, end June, end September, and end December) and they will have different prices.
In the exam we always choose the future that expires first after the date of the transaction.
