I have passed P7! All praise to God.
First attempted it in Dec 2010 along with P2 and P5. Passed the other two but failed P7 with 45%. For June 2011 attempted P4 but scored 25% (after attending class diligently, attending revision and revising like crazy….clearly not my area at all…). Sat P7 again in Dec 2011 and failed with 43%. At this attempt passed with 61%.
At this attempt I really only practised questions; I had the syllabus/theory memorised from my previous two attempts. I would think that for most people failure is due to poor time management technique rather than not knowing the material. From practising the questions (no P7 tuition/revision classes available where I am, so I did this on my own) I noticed that I kept over-running the time per question…so in the exam I tried to force myself to move on when time for a question was over (with mixed results!). This exam is VERY time pressured.

P7 pass-rates are very low for ages. And this is very strange because, I believe, that vast majority of us have good knowledge of P7 material. Also, as was already mentioned above, our examenator always writes “disappointing” word in her feedbacks. From my perspective – this is unfair because while preparing exam questions as well as answers to them – she has lots of time and all materials on her desk. She never feels time pressure. And have a look at answers provided by her – if I wrote 50% of this “bla-bla-bla” I would consider myself as a hero. I believe that ACCA should perform some analysis aimed to answer the question: “why P7 pass-rate is so low?”. God Bless Us!

To elijah2009: I agree that P7 is a time pressured exam. I bought a timer from Poundland and snipped the wire that went to the buzzer to help keep my time on track. If I have not finished a question within time I just move on and go back if I have time at the end.
August 9, 2012 at 8:32 am #103706I support the above two comments. If it were not for the time pressure, which we have mentioned in detail after our exams,I would certainly score more.we need some kind of

53% thank god, I thought in practical terms for the last question on provisions as didnt know much on the theory and by a miracle most of my answer matched the model answer.
Advice to retakers of paper think out of the box for P2. Think logical practical ideas that pop into your head, even if you cant remember theory it is likely that you will get points on anything relevant that you put down.August 9, 2012 at 8:16 pm #103718AnonymousInactive- Topics: 0

1st attempt last seating got 49, this time passed with57! Last time I sat two options together as I had flying passes before so was very disappointed when failed both with p5 46 and p7 49. Lesson learned for me was don’t rely on previous experience of passing other papers, options are different, they require 100 percent question practicing under exam timing conditions.
This time I also didnt use any practice books, instead printed all the qns from 2007 from Acca website and answered them and marked them my self by looking at marking scheme given, 45 qns all together. This way I got used to her wording plus understood how marks are awarded. Examiner is much better in compare to other options, when she writes an article before exam that normaly is featured in the coming exam, so please don’t give up, change you style of revising!
Going to seat p6 in December and I should hopefully be done. Good luck, be strong we are nearly there!

Also study your circumstances before seating options, last time I took two and had a new full time job so I think that was a mistake because I also have a 2year old. Seat one at a time if hove other commitments, it frustratingly slow but more sure otherwise it’s emothinally difficult to resist after failing.
August 10, 2012 at 10:08 am #103720@ nurgul. Thank you so much, your advise is for me, i have been sitting P7 three times in a row now, i think i need to change my way of revising, plus i have other committments, its a good advise to sit one paper at a time. i hope to sit P7 in Dec and my last paper P5 in June 2013. Best of luck in Dec exam.

I sat for p4 & p7. And after the exams i was almost certain i would fail p4 and pretty confident about p7. I checked the results and to my utter surprise i had passed p4 with 50 and failed p7 with 35. It is the most baffling results i have ever obtained. Now, my problem is i simply do not know what i can do to pass p7. I’m just confused. Any help?
