Dear Mike,
I hope you are well.
I wanted to ask 2 questions:
I was recently told that ACCA are planning to introduce more CBE exams later this year. Do you know if there is any truth to this?
Also I would like to know if it is necessary to learn the actual IFRS numbers and name of principle when answering questions in the exam?
Many thanks
January 19, 2016 at 10:11 am #296203The intention is that all F level papers should be CBE. Whether or not that happens in this year remains to be seen, but that was the plan
Countless times on this site I have answered this question so I’ll be very brief!
“if it is necessary to learn the actual IFRS numbers and name of principle when answering questions in the exam?” A resounding NO!
January 19, 2016 at 9:26 pm #296429Hi Mike,
Thank you for your prompt response.
I asked because studying via Kaplan textbook they placed a lot of emphasise on IFRS numbers.
Thank you.
Also as this is my first paper examine do you have any advice on how I should approach it, for instance do I need to explain things via lenghty sentences including lots of financial jargon to gain points?
Many thanks
January 20, 2016 at 7:08 am #296497Kaplan (and other publishers) have to do this. Imagine if you wanted to look deeper into an IFRS but your original source – a Kaplan study text – failed to provide you with that reference
But you certainly don’t need to know this for the exam
As for advice …… there are two articles on exam technique on the F7 material page on this site. “home, ACCA, F7” and scroll down that page
When you’ve read those and if you still have further questions, post again and I’ll get back to you
January 20, 2016 at 10:48 am #296566I will take a look.
Thanks for your prompt response, it is much appreciated.
