Hi Sir,
Are the following statements regarding the European Convention on Human Rights(the Convention) true or false?
1. Courts must always interpret legislation in a manner compatible with the European Convention on Human Rights
2. Courts must consider decisions of the European Court of Human Rights when hearing a case
3. The person responsible for a bill must make a statement of compatibility with the European Convention on Human Rights
4. The government may not continue with a bill that is incompatible with the Convention
Thank you very much.
Connie, what does your text give as the answers and why do you wish to query the printed solutions?
The answers to your 4 questions would be true, true, true and true
There’s an interesting essay on the Internet – I put into google ‘European convention on human rights and its affect on English law’. I selected the second one on the list … Human Rights Act impact on English law and quickly saw that all your questions are answered within the first page of that 9 page essay
OK?
The answer on the text is true false true true. The answer really confused me, so I came to enquire you. Thank you for your answer.
I’ve just read that essay again and I’m happy that my answer to the second question is ‘true’
OK?
