Hello Tutor,
In the question, there is curtailment with settlement issue,the first package they are providing is
basic settlement and the other one is an additional pension contribution which is for a few months
before the division’s closure. The answer says to spread it over the period of service ( In effect,
the contributions are in exchange for the period of service until redundancy.). Does that mean
cost should be spread from the day they joined the company till the date they were made
redundant?

Does’ the period of service till redundancy mean the few extra months from the basic settlement to division’s closure time?
I think it means the extra few months from basic settlement, as you say, until division closure
