Dear P5 Tutor,
I’m always struck at the first sentence of the answer. Wasted a lot of time there.
Could you teach me some techniques to start the first sentence of the answer.
For example, pilot paper q1,”Analyse the risks facing the management of Mackerel and discuss how the management teams attitude to risk might affect their response. ”
The first part of the answer should be mention the risks, then follow by the management attitude to risk.
The model answer sound confusing to me. The examiner seems combined risk and attitude together.
I don’t know how to get the mark from examiner answer.
Please advise me how to start first sentence of the answer.
Thanks a lot.
I would have kept the analysis and attitude parts quire separate also. That’s probably how the marking scheme is constructed and makes it much easier to mark.
If you get ‘writer’s block’ when trying to start an answer, try to begin with a short definition of what you are going to talk about. It might not attract many marks, but it helps to focus your thoughts and gets you going. So you could start this with a sentence something like:
‘Risk can be thought of as the uncertainty surrounding outcomes. For example, in Mackerel risks arise from:………’
Strictly, risk and uncertainty are different, but you haven’t really been asked to define those and the question uses ‘risk’ in an informal way.
