I think the best thing for you to do is to pick a book and work through it chapter-wise. As far as understand and implementing a standard goes, try understanding why a treatment is being done and make sure you get the concepts straight. Rote learning standards will NOT get you anywhere, so if you have a problem, make sure you solve it.
I would also suggest going through the Opentuition lectures/podcasts and notes. They are dead useful in understanding little things textbooks seem to skim over. Listen to a lecture once or twice, do the corresponding questions within the notes, and if you still have a problem, there is always the forum and the chatroom to solve it!
Finally, when all is done, tackle the kit. Make sure you get sufficient practice of every aspect. Remember, always buy an updated kit and textbook. If you try saving money on buying by buying an outdated textbook, you will surely spend a lot more in resitting the exam.
Best wishes,

This, I’m afraid, is a never-ending debate. Everyone will have a different opinion. The real question is, which publisher are YOU comfortable with? Just keep in mind that BOTH are ACCA approved publishers…and success isn’t marked by which book is used, its by the understanding you develope. Pick the one which enhances your understanding. Good luck.
Best wishes,
SK

I have F7 book from GTG, BPP and finally Kaplan. Since I had to study F7 on my own (without a tutor or any classes), I struggled a lot reading GTG and BPP. GTG is great as it is very detail but I just do not have the time to read so much and know so much details. BPP … is too complicated for me. Kaplan.. is step by step, straight to the point, give u example as you progress a long. So if you ask me.. I would go for Kaplan Text book and BPP revision kit as the Kaplan revision kit is not clear which part is for Consolidation and IASs where BPP´s is.
Good luck. 😉

F7 seems to have lowest pass rates for June results…Can anyone who pass F7 give us the tricks….I mean apart from reading is there any other technique to understand the standards with ease???
September 8, 2010 at 10:40 am #657772 Questions:
Why does anyone take F7 in June when the December pass rate is c.9% higher?
How do those who scraped by F3 plan on passing this exam?

I can only answer the first question:
I dont think it is a reasonable assumption that F7 passrate is always higher in December. Everyone wants to pass these exams, and they attempt it when it falls due.
