Hi there,
Please give me tips on how to approach for P5 for Sep 18 exams and i want to pass it the first time itself.I am full time working mother and i am attending any of the ACCA exams after 3 yrs gap..
1) Regular studying
2) Watch opentuition lecture videos, read the relevant opentuition notes, then do exam questions for that topic
3) Practise, practise, practise, practise and more practise (exam standard questions from the exam kit)
4)don’t bother with the study text BUT you must purchase the revision kit which collects past exam papers and has some explanations from tutors and some tips
5) don’t question spot, ANY topic might come up so ensure you cover all of the P5 syllabus
6) ensure you don’t have a P3 mindset when sitting P5 exam, with P5 exam the key is how do you improve the performance of the company and how do you measure performance so ensure you don’t answer P5 questions with a P3 mindset (there is an article on this on the ACCA website, read it!)
7) read the examiner’s reports relating to at least the last 4 exam sittings, it will nicely tell you where students tend to go wrong
8) READ the question requirements PROPERLY ! This is where many go wrong…. If the requirement asks you to “evaluate the performance report of XYZ Ltd” then ensure you evaluate the REPORT, and not the company’s performance….. Huge difference!
9) Read all technical articles, including those on “How to improve P5 answers” etc etc….
10) Make sure you take on board ALL the above advices from points 1-9. No exception.
11) TIME MANAGEMENT – just like with all ACCA exams, practise under timed conditions once closer to the exam date
