Hi any tips on how to grasp the theoretical side? from doing practise questions this exam seems to be more than 50% theoretical! any last minute tips would be appreciated!

The exam has always been approximately 50% calculations and 50% ‘theory’, and it will continue to be like this. The examiner wants to check that you understand the topics as opposed to just having learned ‘rules’.

Assuming that you have watched all of my free lectures (or studied from the Study Text) then you will have covered all the necessary ‘theory and the best way of making sure that you have grasped it is to work through every question in your Revision Kit and learn from the answers. (But appreciate that the examiners answers to ‘theory’ questions in Section C (and the Revision Kit answers) are always much longer that you are expected to produce in the exam (because it is to help people to learn from the answers). Look at a few marking schemes for recent past exams on the ACCA website (they are always on the last page of the answers) and see how the marks are being given. You do not have to write a lot for each point but the markers do not like just ‘one word’ answers – you are expected to write one or two lines explaining each point.

Do make sure that you always write something for each written part of a question, however little. You need to be aiming for at least 50% of the marks on each question to be sure of passing, and even getting just 1 or 2 marks on a written part (which you will get for writing almost anything that is sensible) can make the difference between passing and failing.

Thank you so much! the exam kit answers do intimidate me and i thought we had to write just as much so this has calmed my nerves. And i also will check out the examiner reports. Many thanks your lectures have helped me grasp alot so far! i just always struggle on the theory side. Thanks again!
