Hello Sir,
My approach is to read the requirements of the Sec B questions just to get the feel and then go to Q1. However, what ever time is left (10 mins) is spent on trying to digest the question and as a result, i cant write an answer plan for discursive parts on Q1. I do underline the important bits required for calculations.
How would you recommend the approach in RAP time?
There is no ‘golden rule’ – everyone is different.
Certainly I would quickly look at the requirements for the Section B questions (to help me decide which two to choose).
Then I would read the requirements of question 1.
Then I would start reading through the body of question 1, underlining/highlighting important bits (for example, always some of the points for the written parts of the question are always given in the question itself – usually in the first paragraph).
That would probably finish the 15 minutes for me!! (If I did still have time – which would be unlikely) then I would start making notes of what I would write for the written parts.
Thank you, seems like I’m on the right track 🙂
Sir, if I’m not able to complete part a in time and part b requires commenting on findings in a, would making an estimate and continuing be valid?
I say this because under exam pressure, answer in part is likely wrong.
Yes. You do not lose marks twice, so if you make valid comments on the figures that you have from part (a) (whether they are right, wrong, or invented) then you get the marks for part (b).
Thank you, Sir 🙂
You are welcome 🙂
