    Hi,

I’m taking my first Acca exams (F4 & F6) in December and have been distance learning through Kaplan. I have been reading through their exam kit for F4 and my answers are no where near as detailed as the answers in the book. The answers in the revision book do not even have the same definitions as the text book!

I’ve written the definitions and cases on flash cards in bullet points so as long as I remember the main points I should be able to elaborate but no where near as much as the model answers.

How are we meant to know how much detail to put in the answers to get a decent mark for the question?

    Thanks in advance

How long do you have to write each answer? 18 minutes per question of which 5 minutes should be spent PLANNING what to write. That’s 13 minutes left to write 10 points. Just how much do you think you can write in 1.3 minutes? Try it now, at home! Copy from a book, any book, and write for 1.3 minutes. You’ll be lucky to get past the fifth line. That’s the MAXIMUM length of a sentence in a law answer (one sentence per markable point, one markable point per sentence)

Thanks Mike. It’s just a bit disconcerting when checking the answers – feel like I’m back to square one with some of them!

I am so relieved i came across this thread! I was panicking yesterday as every time i wrote an answer and then went to check it, the model answers were like a 1500 word essay!!!! I had some of the points but not all (was quite relieved i had some of them tbh!!) so will be making sure i remember other points but my god they were scary!!!!!
    Thank guys!! 🙂

Sunny – I don’t understand what you want me to do! Surely it’s clear enough!
