Hi,
I’m curious to know how much people study to pass the exam?
My first attempt will be on Dec 9, 2016. So far I’ve done 91 hours and hoping finish with 200 hours by the end of November (there goes my 6 days of annual leave just for study!!). I have some 30 hours of revision come December.
My preparation only consists of going through the BPP practice kit up to Q66; analyzing the solutions line by line with occasional referencing to the main book. Is that even a good idea?
I’ve self studied my way through this subject with the latest BPP study materials.
I know hours is not a good measure if you’re good enough for the exams!
November 23, 2016 at 11:48 pm #351083I think that 200 hours it a bit too much. I’m doing 4-5 days, shouldn’t take longer.
With regards to your approach, i would spend max one day for study and then move straight to question practice, don’t worry if there is a topic that you didn’t study in detail, it’s all logic (obviously apart from FX and IR hedging, it’s a a bit of a pain for me). So, i would recommend you to stick to questions practice, in particular writing down, not just analysis.

November 24, 2016 at 6:39 pm #351253How do you mean by doing 4 -5 days? Are you referring to the numbers of days you study in a week?
I agree that hedging is the most complicated part of the course. I have some time reserved for note taking, and hopefully complete 2 exam papers.
November 24, 2016 at 6:44 pm #351254Do you mean the BPP practice kit? If it is I have done 58 questions on it so far. I’m trying to go as far Q66.
I have completely left out the study text though. It just feels overwhelming going through them and will take a lot of time. Don’t know if it’s a good idea. We’ll see.

In total, 4-5 days, max 6 should be enough.
