Hi, I’m back studying after being away for a number of years. I don’t have many years left (own target) and want to get through as many passes as possible first time -holding down a full time job, etc, etc.
How many hours is recommended for each subject to ensure enough study?
August 28, 2013 at 11:58 pm #139242Its very much a how long is a piecfe of string. depends how fast you read and how much you retain.
Similar situation here but add to it single sole responsibility parenting.
My regime is the BPP I-learn CD for the paper followed by reading the study text cover to cover then try for at least eight past exam papers under exam conditions followed by reding around subjects that I have not answered as well as I should have
When reading the book I have learnt not to attempt more than one chapter per day otherwise you are just reading but not really taking it in.
I find Kaplans read, try, repeat with more complexity approach very useful to drive the subject matter home.
So, three hours a day for ten days for the BPP I-Learn. (say) 3 hours per day for an average of 24 chapters. 3.25 hours times 8 papers. 1 hour per day every day going through index cards on the month before the exam.
All told, I would say its pressured but possible to do it in around 80 hours per paper spread over 2 months… But I think that you would be much safer looking at at least 100 – 120 hours per paper study and practice time.
Also you need to factor in that there are great differences in the paper with some requiring rote learning and others practical application so you need to vary your study technique to find what suits you best for given papers (For Audit, Corporate reporting and Performance Management I don’t think that there is anything to beat Mike Littles lectures).
Good luck in your studies and hope that you get the results that you are looking for.
kind regards,
Shaun. - AuthorPosts
