Can you please explain a little bit about share consolidation?

I was just wondering how it works in practice to uplift EPS figure.

How does buyback schemes work? Like if i am a director and i know i will receive shares as bonus on 1st jan. Then, i will buy back a huge chunk of company’s share capital on 31st Dec so the denominator (total shares in issue) falls, EPS rises and share price rises for me to profit from it.

RIGHT? but don’t they get caught?

    Hi
You have asked a terrific amount of questions in a day

Share consolidation, also known as a reverse stock split, is a process where a company reduces the number of its outstanding shares and increases the share price proportionally. This is done by combining multiple shares into a single share. The purpose of share consolidation is to increase the share price and potentially improve the perception of the company’s value. The uplift in the EPS (earnings per share) figure is because the earnings are now spread over a smaller number of shares.

Buyback schemes involve a company repurchasing its own shares from shareholders. The process typically works as follows:

    1. The company announces its intention to buy back shares on the open market.
    2. The company sets a price range within which it is willing to buy back shares.
    3. Shareholders who wish to sell their shares can tender them to the company at the specified price.
    4. The company repurchases the shares from the shareholders who have tendered them.

By buying back a significant portion of the company’s share capital, the total number of shares in issue decreases. This reduction in the denominator of the EPS formula leads to an increase in the EPS figure. Additionally, with fewer shares in circulation, the demand for the remaining shares may increase, potentially driving up the share price.
