10y ago#1The assumptoin is that masculine characteristics are more competitive and objective (eg wealth and possessions) whilst femine characteristics place more emphasis on relationships, friendship etc.
The use of masculine/feminine might nowadays be seen as sexual stereotyping because there are many people of both sexes who have personalities that are quite different from those suggested above.
