My case is that when we could file annual PER returns, i achieved 4 out of the 13 required performance objectives(but i had not filled out any challenger questions then).
Now after a couple of years, i have submitted all the 13 required objectives with challenger questions (just now), however it says still only 4 older perfomance objectives achieved.
So how do i actually achieve them? when my mentor signs them off and approves them, will they automatically be done or would we have to do something else?
February 6, 2014 at 12:39 pm #155505What I read on guide is that after your submission it will be forwarded to your mentor and he will go through them and sign them and later you will receive the e-mail that your per is accepted and you may apply for membership by paying 205 UKP.
Please share with us with progress. Who was your mentor? work place or external. My problem is my work place mentor is mean and he doesn’t want to spend time on signing my PO, so I am searching how an external mentor can do that.February 6, 2014 at 2:44 pm #155539As I know….a qualified accountant who knows you…your work…probably he was the auditor of your company (if you are not working in an audit firm)…..can sign off your PER.
My problem is…my boss is ready to sign off…he’s not qualified, I have to go beg the auditor of the company to counter sign off.
2nd problem is. I have sent the performance objective to my mentor, but ACCA is still taking their time to send him a confirmation mail for him to sign off my PER.
FRUSTRATING
February 6, 2014 at 2:47 pm #155542Mine showed as I have completed all objectives…then I mailed ACCA and notified them to change it as I have not completed any. Completing them one by one. They will reset your PER.
Explain to them in detail and also notify them ur student ID on your mail.

Did ACCA reset your PER?
I have the same problem, I asked ACCA to reset mine but so far no action yet. I need to do it before applying to member.

Hi, I have had similar problem. I completed majority of my PER if a previous employment (who went into administration). Now ACCA have said I need to complete challenge questions.
Have emailed a few times to explain but all they have done is reset my achievements from the last 6 years..which I find unethical.
Has anyone successfully got ACCA listen?
Thanks
April 18, 2014 at 8:55 am #165577Don’t know why one has difficulty to complete their PER, if following are present:-
1. A mentor, who can be an immediate superior(qualified or unqualified) and willing to sign off PER.
2. Completed requisite years of experience ie.3 years.
3. Is working in a relevant role. Now all you need to do is to answer the challenge questions. (Not sure even 35% of such answers from the student are made out of 100% facts, and who cares as long as the mentor who sign it off is ok with it).
I have done all my PER signed off in span of 1 year, where my experience in the relevant role is more than 20 years. However I am yet to complete my exams. P-04 is left to complete which I am reappearing in June-14.
All my PER is signed off by one practicing CA of my country of residence, who is the auditor of my last company.
I haven’t found any difficulty so far in completing PER till date and my ESR shows all the PER achieved. Of course I believe I acquired all that competencies and perform at work place
January 4, 2015 at 3:10 pm #221959please answer me.
Q1.can we achieve performance objectives while studying acca.
Q2.what is the proper procedure of signing off by mentor and by me.
Q3.can we achieve a performance objectives even if we don’t qualify the relevant objective.January 18, 2015 at 2:17 pm #222915Hi, I hope you can assist with my problem.
I was working in practice up until 3 and ahalf years ago until I was made redundant. My mentor at the practice signed off on some of the objectives buit didn’t sign off on them all. I became qualifed last August and when I went into re-submit them the answers now have to be between 100-500 words.
My question is I have re-done most of the objectives now but some of them I am having trouble filling out as I may not have done the work required. I moved jobs so can I fill in one of the objective in my current job where I completed my ACCA qualification or do all objectives have to relate to where you did your training.Brian
January 20, 2015 at 9:27 am #223056Hi,
I have a question re PER challenge questions. I am looking at the standard questions for performance objectives and also the questions with the sample answers. Those questions are different and I find the questions with the sample answers make more sense to understand and to answer.
for eg: PERFORMANCE OBJECTIVE: 10 Prepare financial statements for external purposes
standard question is 1) Describe an occasion when you identified an opportunity to improve departmental performance.
and the one with sample answer is Explain your role in the preparation of financial statements
Therefore I am wondering if you can please guide me to the link with all specific questions for the rest of the performance objectives. Thanks

Hi Guys
I wanted to find out how long it takes for ACCA to notify your mentor when you submit your objectives. ThanksFebruary 17, 2015 at 7:43 pm #228957@ruthmulondiwa Your mentor should receive them pretty much immediately. I submitted 4 objectives during weekend. Yesterday was bank holiday in US where my manager is based in, and he signed them off today. So he approved them on first working day after I submitted them.
February 18, 2015 at 9:24 am #229038Mentioned this on a previous thread – hope someone can help.
I’m in the same position as mul1982 – I had all my objectives completed from when I joined ACCA 7 years ago. I presume because of what I completed when I joined. I know the firm I was with at the time had their Auditors draft something confirming my work experience.
I was not aware that the system appears to have changed and you now need to answer these challenge questions. I was only made aware when I applied for membership and was told I had to complete the PER and saw everything had been reset to “not completed”.
When I called ACCA it was like talking to the character on Little Briton “computer say’s no” as that was pretty much the response I got, other than to say they did not have my initial joining application. Presume they had lost it.
I would not say it is unethical more like unprofessional.
As for the suggestions just fill in the questions. I have done that but a) it was a lot of work (minimum of 3900 words spread over all the objectives. b) I do not have an Accountant at my current office who can sign me off and our Auditors are all Chartered Accountants and seem to have a bit of snobbery dealing with ACCA. So are reluctant to get involved.

Hi,
Does anyone remember when ACCA introduced the rule regarding minimum of 100 words? ThanksApril 15, 2016 at 12:01 pm #310207Hello all
I am an Affiliate with one year experience as ACCA Trainer and I would like to record this onto my PER which is allowed by ACCA as well.
However I am not able to answer questions of performance objective claims because all of those questions and based on practical work experience in audit/tax/accounting/finance roles and not on teaching roles.
So to sum up , what I understand is I can record my one year exp in teaching so that my 36 months exp requirement will come down to 24 months but still for claiming objectives I need to use my experience in Audit/finance related roles.
Anybody please confirm if my understanding is right or wrong ?
Thanks in advance.
