    Hi,

So I graduated back in 2009 in Accounting in Finance and gained the maximum exemptions (9) – I attempted the Advance Financial Reporting in June 2010, but due to personal circumstances I was unable to pass or even concentrate on my studies, as well as working full time, hence I failed the exam and due to all sorts of reasons I never retuned back to ACCA.

I have been working since last couple of years and I have worked for well know companies like Unilever – but at this stage my experience has reached at a level where I am unable to find the right job and to match my experience I needs to be a qualified Accountant, and it has always been on the back of my mind that I wants to go back and complete the qualification, as I always knew that I wont be able to reach pass a certain level without the qualification.

Hence, I wants to give it a try if any how I am able to do this after such a long gap, with health issues which has badly affected my memory 🙁 … as I got 9 exemptions and ACCA syllabus has now changed I have 4 professional papers left to complete. But with nearly zero knowledge of the fundamental level papers, I am unsure where to start and how to attempt the professional level papers.

I wants to attempt the SBR paper first, I feel I should first study the whole syllabus of FR before studying the SBR or should I only needs to cover certain chapters form the FR? am scared and unsure how it would work or helpful it will be or where should I exactly start and how much time should I give myself to attempt the SBR paper?

would March sitting give me a sufficient time to prepare?

Any advice, tips or tricks would be extremely helpful on to tackle this after such a log gap!

    Many Thanks!

    To buy:

FR and SBR kits. It doesn’t matter if the FR is last year’s but make sure your SBR is up to date.

    Targets
FR – study our course notes and the last 3 years of exams (from the kit) by 10 December.
BUT IN FR DON’T WORRY ABOUT CONSOLIDATIONS TOO MUCH – JUST MAKE SURE YOU CAN DO THE BASIC ADJUSTMENTS LIKE GOODWILL
SBR – start on our course notes on 11 December- work as many questions from the kit as possible. Sit exam in March.

    Time
    10 hours per week.

    You can do it. 🙂

You can do it ! I havent studied for 17 years and I just passed the FR exam in June and am now studying for SBR, it definetely helps if you have practical finance knowledge and experience!!!
