Hello, would you please help to clarify?
Normally the cost of sales figure include the amount for carriage inwards, since it is added to purchases as a cost of purchase.
Why should we deduct this amount again to arrive at the gross profit?

F3 Practice test 3
Question: Calculate gross profit
Answer by ACCA: 13,800 – 10,350 – 200 = 3,250
$’000
Revenue 13,800
Cost of sales 10,350
Carriage inwards 200
Sir i am stuck with this question i think for 2 hours but don no find any answer why the carriage inward is deducted
I do not have access to the education hub because I am not a student.
I agree with you and would expect the carriage inwards to be already included in the figure for cost of sales.
i got it sir there is problem in wording of the question they said that carriage inward is not included,
so we need to deduct them
thank you sir
I am pleased that you have now got it 🙂
