why some cases impairment of goodwill will be brought bring into Subsi’ Net Asset when computing Goodwill & some not.

Dec07 (Plateau) Answer 1(a) (ii)Goodwill Carrying Amount is 3.6m after impairment of 900k.
however in Jun08 (Patronic) Answer 1(a) Goodwill is $27m without deducting impairment of 2m (as in question 1 iv.)
Hope above are clear & may be I have missed out some point in the question. Thank you.

According to my rev kit, there is NO impairment in Plateau goodwill – see note (iv) in the question.
In Patronis the question specifically asks “Calculate the goodwill arising on the acquisition of Sardonic at 1 August, 2007“
