    Hi Sir,

I am interested in taking F4 for this December sitting, but am unsure whether to take the Global variant or the Malaysian variant, as I live in Brunei Darussalam, a neighbouring country of Malaysia.

I have been registered under the Malaysia variant in myACCA and students who took F4 in my country, in the previous sittings, all sat for the Malaysian variant.

If I take the Malaysian variant, will it restrict me in finding a work in the future? I plan to work somewhere else in the future, not Brunei nor Malaysia.
I also have less resources to study with if I take the Malaysian variant as I can’t find any study texts for the Malaysian variant and, the tuition provider here is not opening classes for F4 this sitting, so I can only self-study.

Please advice me what would be my best option.

The free course notes on this site are aimed at the UK variant but there is an overlap with Global variant of approximately 50% – 60%.

In addition, the video lectures are equally 50% – 60% relevant to Global.

I have no idea at all about the Malaysian variant so am in no position to advise

The course notes (global edition) cover the global syllabus and practice on the 70% of the exam marks multiple choice questions should go a long way to helping you overcome the F4 hurdle.

Of course, you are always welcome to post on this site any questions that you may have so you are not entirely without support.

I imagine that Malaysian law is going to be of most relevance to someone who intends to pursue their accountancy career in Malaysia and that law variant will not count for much outside the Malaysian environment

In answer to your question, therefore, I suggest the Global variant would be of more long term benefit and, in terms of support, there is more support available for December 2014 for Global than there is for Malaysian.

    My advice? Go for Global!
