Hi..i have applied for the global variant but have not started studying for F4 as yet.
I plan on using ONLY the open tuition course notes and run through all the past paper questions. Will studying from only the course notes suffice to pass the exam – as in do the notes cover everything in adequate depth to pass the exam ? please clarify
May 13, 2013 at 10:20 am #125313You would be unwise to rely solely on the course notes. As a bare minimum you should also get hold of a revision kit which shows many of the questions from previous exams and work through those questions. If necessary, to start with you will probably need the notes open next to you as you look and think about how to answer the questions but, as time goes on, you should find that you are becoming less and less reliant on the notes
Hpe that helps
May 14, 2013 at 8:41 pm #125489thanks for the reply – i do have a revision kit but it is for the uk variant where as I am sitting the global variant.
I’ll be going through all the past paper questions – my question was regarding the content required to pass the exam – is this adequately covered in the course notes ? if i have to write 10 points to get 10 marks can i find 10 points in the course notes ?
May 14, 2013 at 8:43 pm #125490i previously sat for the uk variant and found all the contract stuff too tedious which is why i switched to global – this seems to be less tedious and also has interesting stuff to learn but I was unable to get hold of a text and revision kit for the global variant which is why i am heavily reliant on the open tuition course notes and past paperss
May 15, 2013 at 11:06 am #125530When I wrote the notes, I tried to restrict each page to 10 bullet points.
I was not always successful but most pages are there or there abouts.
The intention was to make it easier for students to remember 10 basic points about each topic. The notes are NOT comprehensive – for that you need to look at a study text. But I hope that in their present format they pretty effectively achieve the objective
May 16, 2013 at 7:54 pm #125703thanks again for the reply – i dont want to look at a text as how much can you really write in 3 hours so from that point of view the course notes are pretty effective – so my strategy is to learn the 10 points and expand on them to make it look like I know alot more than I really do!
i got hold of of a 2011 uk variant kaplan text – can this be used for the common topics that appear in both the uk and global variants ( should I need some sort of reference ) or is it outdated?
May 16, 2013 at 10:26 pm #125736No that should be fine – just make sure you know about the Bribery Act and Treasury Shares – both topics are covered in the OT course notes
