    Hi,,

I’m preparing for a couple (Or 3 if I start studying now!) of exams in June and I just wanted to know few things.

    – I have 2015 Kaplan exam kits; I’m assuming something more up to date would be more suitable? Something with more OBT questions to reflect the new 60/40 format.

    – Has there been any feedback from preferences on the format students (CBE or Paper) preferred? I know in theory there isn’t any difference but is that really reflected in practice? I see the CBE exam is 5 mins longer with 10 seeder questions (Whatever that means..)

    – do you still get marks for workings in section c when you’re on CBE?

    Thanks

    – Yes – you would be best buying a current edition of a revision kit because they have lots of questions in the new format of the exam.

    – not really – some students prefer CBE and some prefer paper based. The standard of the exam is exactly the same. (The purpose of the feeder questions is to make sure that the CBE exam is fair to everyone, because everyone gets different questions.)

    – Yes – you still get marks for workings for section C. Workings are expected and the workings are more important for the marks than the final answer. Section C questions are marked by hand whether CBE of paper based.

    Thanks John.

Just a follow up question on the final point; Is there a recommended approach when presenting my workings? For example, equations and numbers within 1 cell, showing workings next to my answer or presenting my workings on a different tab entirely (if another tab exists).

    I’m aiming to do F5 F7 and F9 – I’ve started yesterday.

For the CBE exams, if the workings are things like multiplying cells together, then the marker will be able to see this and so there is no need for extra explaining.

For other workings you should show a separate note in another tab (and you will be able to create one).
